How We Get These Rates

Last reviewed: October 2026

Every rate on ARS Rates is in pesos per 1 US dollar. Market and money-transfer rates are checked every 15 minutes from 7:00 to 21:00 Argentina time, and hourly overnight. Card networks (Visa, Mastercard and AMEX) each set one rate per day for all charges that day, so those change once a day rather than during the day.

Sources

Rate Source Notes
Dólar Blue DolarHoy The informal market rate for cash dollars, as quoted by street exchange houses (cuevas).
Dólar Oficial, MEP, CCL dolarapi.com Oficial is the banks' retail rate. MEP and CCL aren't set by a bank: they're market rates worked out from bond prices (bought in pesos, sold in dollars locally for MEP or abroad for CCL).
Dólar Cripto dolarapi.com The crypto dollar: what dollar stablecoins (like USDT) cost in pesos on Argentine crypto exchanges. Before October 2026 this was DolarHoy's USDC quote.
Dólar Tarjeta dolarapi.com The official rate plus the 30% tax on card spending abroad: what card charges in other currencies cost in pesos on an Argentine card.
Dólar Mayorista BCRA (Central Bank) The wholesale reference rate (Comunicación A 3500), from the Central Bank's public data. Published on business days around 4 PM; we show the latest one.
Western Union Western Union WU's rate for sending dollars to pesos, before fees.
Wise, Remitly, TapTap Send Each company's public rate calculator Headline rates before fees. Remitly is its standard rate, not the first-transfer promo. TapTap Send is its US to Argentina rate.
Visa Visa One rate per day. Sunday and Monday use Saturday's rate.
Mastercard Mastercard One rate per day, published around 3 PM US Eastern time. Estimated until then (see below).
AMEX Our estimate from the BCRA rate See below. Replaced by the actual rate when we have a real charge for that day.

dolarapi.com is a free public API for Argentine exchange rates. When DolarHoy's Blue page is unavailable, Blue comes from dolarapi.com too; when dolarapi.com is missing Oficial, MEP or CCL, we read them from DolarHoy's home page instead.

Estimates

A rate marked (Est.) is our estimate, shown until the real one is available.

Other currencies

The rates table and charts can show pesos per 1 euro, pound, Canadian, Australian or New Zealand dollar. These are the US dollar rates converted at the European Central Bank's daily reference rate (via frankfurter.dev), not rates quoted in that currency. Changing euro or pound bills at an exchange house usually gets a bit less, and a card or a transfer from abroad converts at its own rate for your currency, so card and transfer rates are shown in US dollars only.
